Flight to Bettencourt:  June 1799

At the end of 1797, a new “Reign of Terror” erupts.  Father Thomas, pursued all the way to the Blin town home, escapes his aggressors on June 15, 1799.   The next day, Father Thomas, Françoise, Julie and her niece, Felicity seek refuge in Bettencourt.  Together, they evangelize the village.  Julie’s health improves and she begins to speak.

Father Thomas, having entered the Society of the Fathers of the Faith, introduces Julie to Father Varin who invites her to devote herself to the education of youth and to work for the glory of God.
