Amiens 1794

In the beginning, the meeting between Julie and Françoise is difficult;  Julie has a hard time expressing herself and Françoise cannot understand her but, quickly, bonds of affection are woven between the two women.

Soon, there formed around Julie a pious association.  In addition to Françoise, the daughters of Madam Boudoin invite their friends, the young ladies de Méry and Doria.  Father Thomas, hidden in the hotel Blin, leads the group and celebrates the Eucharist.  Some children are baptized and confirmed in Julie’s room.  But this little society had only an ephemeral existence.  Françoise will remain Julie’s only companion.
